Some Good Advice from an Ice Princess

Do you feel stuck in your life, or feel like you aren’t making any headway in living your vision?

First, let me remind you that God is totally working “behind the scenes” in your life. He is orchestrating people, events, and opportunities to show up at the PERFECT time. So keep the faith!

However, there may be another reason for the stagnant place in your life. Let me ask you, what are you hanging on to that you should have let go a long time ago?

Are you hanging on to:

  • an out of date hairstyle
  • an extra 5, 10 or 20 pounds
  • a bad relationship, because you think a bad relationship is better than NO relationship
  • guilt from a sin for which you’ve already repented
  • a grudge against someone who sinned against you
  • anger, resentment and/or hurt about your past (or your present situation)

If anything on the list hit a nerve with you, consider it a God-intervention (okay, maybe not the out of date hairstyle).

I am especially referring to letting go of grudges, anger, resentment and hurt you have towards someone. You may not realize that by hanging on to those feelings you are actually BLOCKING God’s blessings from flowing into your life. It is most likely the cause of what is weighing you down, keeping you “stuck” and stopping any progress toward your vision.

Look what Jesus says in Matthew 6:14-15 (MSG)

In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what you do. You can’t get forgiveness from God, for instance, without also forgiving others. If you refuse to do your part, you cut yourself off from God’s part.

Jesus is pretty blunt! When you refuse to forgive, what you are really doing is cutting yourself off from God. I don’t know about you, but God is the ONE person with whom I NEED to be connected!

And why do we hang on to those who sin against us? Look what Jesus asks in John 20:23 (MSG):

If you forgive someone’s sins, they’re gone for good. If you don’t forgive sins, what are you going to do with them?

The devil fools us into thinking we should hang on to bitterness and resentment. We falsely believe we have power when we refuse to forgive and let go. But Jesus gets us thinking… what is the purpose of hanging on to other’s sins? Do they bring you joy and happiness, do they fill you with love and peace?

Hanging on to our hurts takes up precious space in our hearts, in our mind, and in our imagination. This is why it blocks you from your vision. You need space in your mind for God’s Spirit to unleash His imagination in you! But God can’t do His part when your heart and mind are filled with anger, bitterness and negativity.

So this week, take inventory of your heart and see what you are hanging on to. Spend time in earnest prayer asking for God’s help in letting go and forgiving those who have hurt you. Invite God in to purify your mind and to get you back focused on what He is guiding you to do in terms of your vision.

Then, watch how all of a sudden you will be connected back with God and obstacles start disappearing! The path toward your vision opens up and you’re able to start moving. God is waiting for YOU to seek him!

Let it go, so you can let God in!

  1. Great blog! “Let it Go!” means so many different things for me right now, but it is my mantra for when things don’t go my way or when I want to hang on to the hurt someone has done to me. However, I know that letting it go feels SO much better than dragging that with me wherever I go.
